Having a cb is convenient. Between talking to truckers while bored in traffic, the pointing out of cops, or when you're told when the line of traffic on the turnpike starts so you can get off an exit earlier if needed.

Sucks to have a cb for city folks though. So many D Bags on 19 in NYC that just talk crap all day and big the airways down

So I'm still on the fence about it. I do have a question about hooking it up to power. Do you put the wire in a fuse or do you hook it up directly to battery which is preferred

Do you want to have power to the cb all the time or just when ignition is on? Direct to bat, pwr all the time. Tap into the fuse block, pick a fuse that is only hot with Ign on. Either way, pwr to cb must be fused whether fuse block or inline fuse. I prefer pwr only with ign on.

I have mine fused directly to the battery. Only forgot it turned on once for 8 hours but it didn't drain the battery none

Plus I've heard stories where people had interference when using the fuse box. That's just hearsay since I'm straight to the battery

Yes you can do it either way. The power wire from the CB should come with an in line fuse. I wired mine directly to the battery. If you leave it on by mistake it's ok because CB's don't use much power

Don't know if you've installed the CB yet but like Michael said you can wire it either way.  I have a CB in my XJ so power is pretty convenient meaning I can tap off of the keyed cigarette lighter  power or the 12VDC accessory line.  I went keyed power so I will have to have my key in the ignition to use it but that's fine for me.  I've wired direct to 12VDC in some of my previous rigs that I parked on the beach to fish back in the day.  Now I use a cell phone LOL.
