Title: stock jk wheels 17"
Post by: Ho3z on September 11, 2014, 10:51:27 PM
currently running 33x12.5s on my stock 17" wheels
want to install my cragar soft 8 17x9 wheels

What do i need to know about my tpms/valve stem?

i went to a local flat fixed type of shop, and was told i need to purchase new tpms in order to put the new wheels on.. this + the attitude of the gentlemen didnt make me too confident in his advice. so i left, and im here to research.

I should be able to use the same tpms & stem on my new wheels correct? if not what do i need to purchase? also any ideas on cost?
to swap the rims it was $20 each which sounded good to me. but the tpms were $30 each which did not sound to good...
thank you guys!!! and im sorry if the info is already in the threads im kind of strapped for time being that my rims are in my car & parked in the street LOL

Well they should be able to swap the sensors or just don't put them in. I don't have them in mine and yea the light stays on in my dash but it's not annoying so I don't care but there is a way to turn the light off. $30 dollars each to change the sensor or the sensor and tire $30 each. They just screw out and swap to new rim they should do it for nothing or maybe an extra $5 each to swap so $25 each tire sounds better

Tpms is a waste of time IMHO. It's easy to just put a guage on a tire or 2 every other week. Owning a jeep comes with the chore of maintenance.

Also, do you wheel and if yes, what kind of wheeling? This will also make sure you're getting the right sized rim

I missed where he said 12.5" wide tire. 9" wide is fine for that.

17x9 will fit fine. Just get the ones with at least 4.5 backspacing.
